Manassas BattlefieldPrince William County was named for Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, a son of King George II.  It is located approximately 35 miles southwest of Washington, DC.  It is bounded on the north by Loudoun and Fairfax counties, on the west by by Fauquier County, on the south by Stafford County and on the east by the Potomac River.

Prince William County is 348 square miles in area and has a population of 280,813. The median family income is $71,622 per year.

Manassas Train StationPrince William is an excellent base for exploring the historical and natural beauty of Virginia.It is within easy distance of the Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, Shenandoah Valley and many Virginia wineries.If you are a civil War buff, Manassas National Battlefield Park is located within the county and Prince William is within a few hours of Gettysburg, Antietam and Harpers Ferry.The county hosts a number of events during the summer where it commemorates the soldiers from both the North and the South. Old Town Manassass historic train depot gives visitors a taste of the town's railroad history.

Also located in Prince William County are Quantico Marine Corp Base, Prince William Forest Park, the 2nd largest National Park in the Washington area, Nissan Pavilion, a large concert facility and Potomac Mills Outlet Mall, the 10th most popular tourist attraction in Virginia.

William County schools consist of 62 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, 10 high schools as well as 5 special education schools and 2 alternative schools.  63% of the teachers hold advanced degrees and 87% of the high school graduates continue their education at a college or university.

Commuter transportation is provided by the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission and Virginia Railway Express.
